DIY beauty: Spirulina mask

Spirulina is one of the greatest superfoods. It can be consumed in powder form (mixed in water or smoothies) or tablets. But you can also apply it on your skin, because it's ultimate food for your skin and its health.

Firstly, some short words about Spirulina.
Spirulina is algae, which is protein source (the highest concentration of protein among all foods, 65-71 %), contains 8 amino acids. It's rich in vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, E and K. It helps to build muscles and strenght, stabilises blood sugar, stimulates brain function, stimulates fast recovery, keeps nervous system healthy, keeps bones strong etc..

For face mask you need:
- 1 table spoon of Spirulina
- little bit of filtered water just to achieve thick mask consistency (few table spoons)

Instructions:

Put Spirulina in an empty bowl/glass/plate and start adding water gradually. Start with 3 table spoons of water and mix, add few more table spoons of water and mix. Stop when consistency is thick, but easy to apply.

Get your hair out of the way, remove makeup and apply the mask on your face. Leave it there for 20 minutes and then rinse. Follow by face toner and moisturizer.

Yeah, I know, I look funny ;)

This mask will leave you with soft cleansed skin. You can do this mask up to 3 times a week.

Tell me if you try it out and how did you like it?
Do you consume Spirulina?

FOTD | Smokey with hint of green

I did pretty boring makeup look last week on Thursday, but still worth writing a post about it ;) I went with smokey with  little bit of green, because I rarely wear green or particulary this Artdeco eyeshadow, and I try to shop my stash since I have a lot of eyeshadows. I don't even remember the last time I bought new eyeshadow palette or single eyeshadow. I feel like I already have all the colours in the world, or I could combine more eyeshadows to achieve new colour.
Anyways, enough of chit chat, here' what I was wearing.

Products used:
- Bourjois Health mix serum
- Bourjois Healthy mix concealer
- NYX blush Taupe
- Catrice All matt Shine control powder

- MUA palette Undressed - shade 3, shade 5, shade 10, shade 11
- Artdeco eyeshadow 218 - shimmery brown, 49 - shimmery green
- Sleek palette Snapshots - Martini
- Bourjois Khol & contour Ultra black
- Essence Get Big lashes! Volume curl mascara
- Catrice Eye brow stylist 030 Brow-n-eyed peas

- Elf clear gloss

Happy Monday!

February favourites

I didn't post my favourites post for January, even though I wanted to, but then I got ill and it changed my schedule, so I skipped it. And here are my February favourites ... :)

I started using Essie polishes in December and I really like them. In February I mostly used shades Smokin hot and After school boy blazer. I was really sceptical about Smokin hot, because I never really use this kin of shade. It's dark mauve, grey and slightly purple, but it looks good on my nails and I really like it. After school boy blazer is navy blue, on nails almost looks black, but it's blue ;) (I also got one for you in future giveaway ;)).

I rediscovered Barry M Waterproof eye pencil. It's super creamy, it sets pretty quickly once applied on the eyes, but you can also smudge it if you work pretty fast. As you can see, I got good use out of it :)

Favourite lipstick of the month has to be Rimmel Lasting finish lipstick in 016 Heart breaker. I write about it in my Lippie of the Day post HERE.

I was in need of a new body lotion and I got Afrodita Red grapes Nurturing body milk, which smells the same as their hand cream with grapes. It's moisturizing and leaves me with soft skin. Another bonus is that little bit of product goes a long way.

I've listened to my first audio book and it was from Robin Sharma - The Monk who sold his Ferrari. I loved the story, it's so inspiring and uplifting. After I stopped listening to it I was super motivated to do something epic ;). You can listen to it on YouTube HERE (2 hours 40 minutes).
And Robin Sharma can as my favourite person of the month :). He makes motivational YouTube videos, how to become a leader, how to change habits, how to wake up early, what to do to become successful etc.. Check out his channel HERE.

Another YouTuber I discovered is SoothingSista. Beautiful Stephanie does outfit videos (I love her style), sometimes even beauty videos, vlogs and other randomness. Plus she is stunningly beautiful. Check her channel HERE.

Best movie I watched is animated movie Brave. Princess Merida is determined to make her own path in life, which causes chaos in her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery to undo this curse. Loved the story line and message in this movie.

And that's it for my favourites. What are yours? :)

Desert Essence Thoroughly clean face wash REVIEW / Desert Essence Thoroughly clean čistilo OCENA

*Post is written in English and Slovene. / Ta objava je napisana v angleščini in slovenščini.

I was contacted by Ekobutik online store to choose three products I would like to have and they would send me one of their choice for me to try out. I received Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean Face Wash - original for Oily & combination skin Eco-Harvest Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi. You know I don't have oily or combination skin, I actually completely overseen that information, but my skin still breakouts pretty easily, so I must say that is suitable for dry skin as well.
On their website they sell organic teas, super foods, mineral makeup, natural cosmetics and perfumes, products for home and accessories. All products and items are cruelty free.
Vsi izdelki so cruelty free.

Desert Essence Thoroughly clean face wash comes with 250 ML / 8.5 FL OZ clear plastic bottle with a pump. Packaging is recyclable and biodegradable, which is always a plus. Bottle is quite big, so it's not the most convenient for travelling, but you can easily transfer it into a smaller bottle.

Product is in liquid form, has slightly yellow-brown transparent colour. Smells like tree tree oil (can you imagine? :)), very clean and fresh. Because products is liquid, it's the best to bring your hands really close to the pump and get the product in hands slowly, otherwise it will spill.

I use this cleanser mostly at night (even though it says twice a day). Firstly, I remove my makeup, moisten my skin again with water, use about 3 pumps of a products in my hand and massage it with my fingers in my face avoiding eye and mouth area. I accidentally got in my eyes once and in it stung, it also doesn't taste delicious :). If your skin has open wounds or cuts, it will probably sting a little. With massaging it lathers a little, after one minute I rinse with cold water and pat it dry with face towel. After that my skin feels slightly rubbery, but it's glowing and healthy looking. After I use my face toner, the rubbery feeling is gone.

Directions & ingredients. / Navodila za uporabo in sestavine.

Even though cleanser is meant to be used on face, I used it as a body wash as well, because skin on my body can be really dull and has no healthy glow whatsoever, to see if it would help. But I didn't use it for that long to notice any difference, but I must say that it made my skin feeling really refreshed. Because of its refreshing after feel and because it removed excess oil from the skin (but doesn't make you feel dry), I would especially recommend it for warmer season, when skin usually tents to be oilier (mine too :)). Also scent reminds me of spring and summer :)

Yay for non nasty ingredients and being vegan! :) / Juhej, ker nima slabih sestavin in ker je veganski! :)

I've been using this product for a month now and I noticed that my skin is more glowing and silky soft in the morning. I also noticed that my nose blackheads are smaller right after I wash my face, this face wash also helped me heal some random breakout I got, under skin pimple was also cured faster. It really disinfects and cleans skin.
Čistilo res dezinficira in očisti kožo.

To sum up, I would say that this product is amazing, it received Better nutrition Best of beauty award in 2009 for a reason. International readers check out ekobutik.eu. You can get your bottle HERE (11.99 €).

Lippie of the day | Heart breaker

I received this beautiful lipstick as a Christmas gift (with all other goodies) from my lovely and beautiful friend Sal from PetiteSal blog. We did "a little swap" and she surprised me with three lipsticks. Heart breaker was one of them.

This fun shade is from Rimmel called Lasting finish lipstick in 016 Heart breaker. Formula is super creamy, glides on like butter, but with that you have to be careful, because it will get in your fine lines around your lips and will smudge if you're not careful wearing it. It doesn't survive a meal (only outline stays on me). I recommend using it with a lip liner and powder it to seal it.

Shade is dark-bright rapsbery pink. I wouldn't call it "in your face pink", but it's an eye catcher for sure. It doesn't contain any shimmer or glitter. To make it more subtle, you can just tap it on your lips and spread it all over the lips with your fingers to give them some colour.

How do you like it? Did it break your heart? :)

Products that suck #3

Haven't written a post about regret purchases in a while. Let's just say that when I find something that works, I'll probably stick to it for a whilem that's why I don't have a lot regretable purchases. But then I went through my stash and found some things that didn't work for me and forgot about them, so here they are.

Bare in mind that whatever doesn't work for me, it may work for you, it's the same other way around.

I have dry, sensitive skin and I break out quite easily. In hope to help me with my breakouts I bought Afrodita Young & Pure Deep Cleansing gel + peeling + mask for normal to oily skin. I used it on the certain areas where I tent to break out more, but it broke me out even more and it really dried out my skin. But I would recommend it for oily and acne prone skin, it might work for you. If you have dry skin, stay away from it! :)

I am searching for a new moisturizer, because still haven't found one I would be 100% satisfied with and going through every moisturizer in a drug store I ended up purchasing Olay Anti-wrinkle Nature fusion night cream. Just because it was on sale and just because most people compliment Olay products. That desperate purchase didn't end up well. Once I apply the cream I have a feeling that it just sits on my skin and it doesn't do anything. I even noticed more cloged pores and more black heads.

Another dissapointment has to be Alverde hair mask (glanz-haarkur Zitronenblüte Aprikose). It just didn't do anything to my hair and that's all I have to say about it. At least I can use it as a shaving cream.

I even have few polishes that I don't like, but I still use them, because I secretly cheer for them to get better :D

First one is Kleancolor Nail laquer 236 Chunky holo black. I ordered it few years ago on eBay, because it looked beautiful on pictures, but when I got it I couldn't open it, after awhile I finally did it and the product itself is really thick, has gel-like consistency, once applied takes forever to dry and it chips really fast.

Second one I didn't like is Ruby kisses HDP18 Whiter than White. Brush is terrible (bristles are some sort of a plastic, really uneven), extremely clumsy, the polish smells 10 times worse than any polish I've tried and it just doesn't want to dry once applied.
Are all Ruby kisses polishes like that?

Last one that doesn't work for me is Catrice Quick Dry & High shine Top coat. I know it gives shine, but quick dry? Nah. Now I don't even use any top coat to finish my manicure, just because nothing worked for me and the more coats I apply, the faster polish chips.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts on them?

2013 favourites

I've been avoiding to finish this post, because I knew it will take me quite some time to write, but it's January is flying by so quickly and it's about time I publish it ... let's start :)

Cosmetics:

I am not oily, but sometimes if I wear makeup all day, I get little bit shiny and it's nice to have a primer underneath to prevent that. MUA Matte perfect primer does its job and I really loke it. I'm a huge fan of Bourjois Healthy Mix collection and last year I started using Bourjois Healthy mix serum. It's light, gives me dewy finish and it stays on me quite long. I usually don't powder my whole face, but I set my foundation around the eyes, around my lips and I even use powder as natural eyeshadow to set eyeshadow primer. Catrice All matt plus Shine control powder does a great job with all that.

Skin care discovery for my face has to be Alverde Clear Waschcreme. It removed my makeup and cleans my face perfectly and it's super gentle. Another skin care product I loved in 2013 is Balea Aqua serum, I just ran out of it, that's why it's not in the picture :). For my hair I've been loving Balea Oil repair spulung (conditioner). Makes my hair super soft and shiny. Deodorant I really liked was Felce Azzura Deo spray. It's in spray form, it's great to refresh during the day and this green scent is the only one I like from their line.

I cannot live without eyeliner and mascara, in 2013 I really liked Essence Liquid ink liquid eyeliner in waterproof form. Just be careful not to apply too much otherwise it will start to peel off. Another liner I liked was Catrice Gel eyeliner Black Jack with Jack Black, even though it's not the blackest liner out there. Stays on its place whole day, it even lasted me pretty decent amount of time. Gel liner tent to dry pretty fast. Mascara of the year has to be Isa Dora Big Bold Super volumizing mascara, which I won in IsaDora giveaway on Twitter. The wand is big and can be messy on lower lashes, but if applied carefully it did its job. Nice volume, length and intensity. Last couple of month I've been using only Catrice eye brow pencil for my lashes. As you can see on the picture, I need a new one ;) I don't have a full name or name of the shade, but I think it's the darkest one. I can't apply eyeshadow if I haven't applied primer first and I really liked Avon eye primer. It's beyond amazing.

Most used lipsticks have to be Ingrid 242, MUA lipstick Shade 11 and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stain Smitten.

Nails:

Best base coat is OPI Natural Nail Base coat. This is the best base coat I tried and I think it even dries my colour polish faster. Other favourite polishes have to be: Essie Aruba blue, Essie Sole Mate and Barry M Racing Green.

Books:
I read quite some amazing books in 2013,  But first book that comes to my mind is from Cristy Žmahar called Nebesa odgovarjajo (Heaven response; only available in Slovenian atm). Here's a little description: click.

Music:
I'll have to go with whole newest album from Panic! at the Disco - Too weird to live To rare to die. You're probably sick and tired of me mentioning them, but I really do love them and still haven't gone sick and tired of their songs ;). You can listen to whole album on YouTube here.
Second album I really dig has to be from Fall Out Boy - Save Rock and Roll. Listen to whole album here.

Source: screenshot from their videos.

YouTube:
I discovered so many amazing YouTubers last year and I already shared that in my Favourite Youtubers post in December (here). My all time favourites have to be Claire Marshall (queen of editing and I probably re watched all her videos quite some times :D) and MadeYewLook (young talented positive girl, she also has her own brush set line).

Source: Pinterest.
Movies:
For movies I'll have to go with the two I saw in November/December, because those are the only ones I remember :D The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, of course. Jennifer Lawrence brought Katniss on a whole another level, fell in love with her even more and movie is much more understandable and it sticks to a book. And I watched it twice. In the cinema, yes. :)
Second one I really like was The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, because I love hobbits, elves, dragons and fantasy movies. :) And now I just remembered I got inspired to do one more makeup for The Hobbit makeup series ;)

Are my favourites your favourites too? :) Tell me what was your favourite product, music, series, book ... in 2013.

Ultraflesh shinebox Highlight and Shimmer Collection REVIEW

I received this lovely palette from StrawberryNet.com which was sent to me as a gift after joining their Blogger Collaboration Program. I never shopped on their site before, but I have a few items on my list, since I can't get them anywhere else or are pricier. Plus they offer free international shipping.

Ingredients.

Palette is 5-piece set and contains: 2 all over highlighters, 2 all over shimmers and 1 all over enchancer. Packaging is black, shiny and sturdy, I actually really like it. The only thing that's missing is a mirror, which I don't see as a problem though :). It divides into three compartments (seen on the picture below), I don't think I've seen anything like it before.

In first compartment is a powder product "enhancer powder" (4.2 grams/0.15 Oz.) which is slightly bronzed, has nice tiny shimmer and acts like a really nice highlight. I tried to wear it as an eyeshadow (1/2 of a lid in inner corner), which I think it's great if you're looking for subtle and fresh look, for me, it's not enough pigmented to wear it as an eyeshadow on the lids, but works great as a face and inner corner highlight.

In second compartment you get two creamy products "cream shimmers" (3.2 grams/0.11 Oz.), lighter and darker one. First one has golden shimmer, second one has silver/white shimmer. I, personally, am not a fan of cream shadows, because they usually disappear on me pretty quickly, but I used the second one as my brow highlight the other day and it stayed on its place all day. Once applied it dries pretty quickly, it sets and it doesn't even look like a cream product. I really like that!

In the last compartment are two little pencils "highlight eyeliners" (0.19 grams/0.01 Oz.), again, one lighter (cool toned), other darker (warm toned). My initial though was they would be great for travelling, since they don't take a lot of space. They look great applied in inner corners and look pretty and subtle in the water line as well (white pencil can look bit too harsh). Pencils are creamy and easily bendable. They are my favourite products in this palette :)

 L to R: powder, 2 creams, 2 eyepencils.

Overall, I think it's a great palette if you like wearing highlight and like to have more option. It's not the most inconvenient thing to travel with, but pencils are portable. Overall I think it's a great quality product, true highlight heaven ;)

Check out StrawberryNet.com and let me know what did you order ;)
You can find out this highlight palette HERE.

My Ideal Palette TAG

I was tagged! By lovely Tatjana from Taya My little beauty world. For this tag I had to pick 10 eyeshadows (rules below), which was not an easy task. I've been searching for all matte palette, since I'm obsessed with matte shadows (I'm eyeing Kat von D Ladybird ;)), but I also like shimmery, because I use light shimmery shadows for highlights all over my face, I like duocrome shadows that can be used all over lids and I like quite lot of darks, black is an obvious choice for me. And here are my picks ...

Rules:
2 Highlight Colors
2 Lid Colors
2 Crease Colors
2 Outer Corner Shadows
2 Bonus Shadows
Palette Packaging
Alverde Gold rose, MUA shade 16, Essence Dory in love, MUA shade 3, Artdeco 9, Sleek Bark, Sleek Noir, Everyday minerals Our first date, Fyrinnae Sorceress, MUA shade 12

2 highlight colors:

Alverde 09 Nude rose is the most pretty highlight shade. I use it all over my face and after using it, some of my friends bought it, because it's that beautiful. I believe it was renamed now, but unfortunately I don't know how.

I actually like to use regular face powder for a matte shade, which always helps with blending or I just apply it all over the lid after eye primer to prevent creasing, but MUA  shade 16 - matt is pretty similar to a powder, so I chose this one. Pink is not even seen once applied.
2 lid colors:

Can I pick a pigment? Because I just did ;) If Essence pigment Dory in love was a pressed shadow, I would have it in a palette. It has slight shimmer, and I just realized I need to use it more ;). Blue can be really tricky to pull off, but I always like a challenge ;).

For another lid shade I chose shimmery silver - MUA Shade 3 - pearl. I like to wear it all over my lid and have just warm brown in my crease with winged liner. Plus you can combine it with plenty smokey eyes.

2 crease colors:

Artdeco 9 is actually a shade for eye brows, but I've been using it on my eye lids, because it's too redish for brows to my likings. Works great as a crease colour. This shade would go great with that shimmery silver I mentioned before.

And of course - no palette is complete with dark brown shade. I picked Sleek from Au Naturel palette shade Bark. Sometimes I even use it for filling in my eyebrows and it's amazing for blending out eyeshadow in the crease.

2 outer corner shades:

No palette is complete without black. I sometimes like even doing just black smokey eyes. I chose from the same palette as before - Sleek Au Naturel in shade Noir.

Because I had no clue what other shade to pick for outer corner, I picked another black, but this one is slightly more on a warmer side (extremely hard to photograph and I hate the packaging, but you can see it on the first photo). This shade is from Everyday minerals eye Our first date palette, the darkest one.

2 bonus colors:

The most beautiful duocrome shade, I fell in love with it at the first sight. Fyrinnae Sorceress is dark greenish-blue with shimmer and tiny glitter, it can be slightly purple at a certain light and it also looks grey when you blend it out. Amazing for wearing it all over the lid and it would look like you put a lot of effort into your eye makeup :)

Yet another duocrome shade is this amazing dark brown with redish undertones, slightly green, slightly grey - MUA shade 12 - pearl. Again, wear it all over the lids and it would look like you put a lot of effort into it.

Packaging:
I really like Sleek palette packaging - black, sleek, elegant, with a mirror, easy to carry when you travel. I'm not too picky :)

I'm not completely sure if that would be my "Ideal" palette. But those are the colours I wear a lot. On every day basis I mostly wear just winged liner, because it's the easiest to do.

What colours would you like to have in your ideal palette? YOU, who reads this, are tagged.
