February favourites

I didn't post my favourites post for January, even though I wanted to, but then I got ill and it changed my schedule, so I skipped it. And here are my February favourites ... :)

I started using Essie polishes in December and I really like them. In February I mostly used shades Smokin hot and After school boy blazer. I was really sceptical about Smokin hot, because I never really use this kin of shade. It's dark mauve, grey and slightly purple, but it looks good on my nails and I really like it. After school boy blazer is navy blue, on nails almost looks black, but it's blue ;) (I also got one for you in future giveaway ;)).

I rediscovered Barry M Waterproof eye pencil. It's super creamy, it sets pretty quickly once applied on the eyes, but you can also smudge it if you work pretty fast. As you can see, I got good use out of it :)

Favourite lipstick of the month has to be Rimmel Lasting finish lipstick in 016 Heart breaker. I write about it in my Lippie of the Day post HERE.

I was in need of a new body lotion and I got Afrodita Red grapes Nurturing body milk, which smells the same as their hand cream with grapes. It's moisturizing and leaves me with soft skin. Another bonus is that little bit of product goes a long way.

I've listened to my first audio book and it was from Robin Sharma - The Monk who sold his Ferrari. I loved the story, it's so inspiring and uplifting. After I stopped listening to it I was super motivated to do something epic ;). You can listen to it on YouTube HERE (2 hours 40 minutes).
And Robin Sharma can as my favourite person of the month :). He makes motivational YouTube videos, how to become a leader, how to change habits, how to wake up early, what to do to become successful etc.. Check out his channel HERE.

Another YouTuber I discovered is SoothingSista. Beautiful Stephanie does outfit videos (I love her style), sometimes even beauty videos, vlogs and other randomness. Plus she is stunningly beautiful. Check her channel HERE.

Best movie I watched is animated movie Brave. Princess Merida is determined to make her own path in life, which causes chaos in her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery to undo this curse. Loved the story line and message in this movie.

And that's it for my favourites. What are yours? :)

It's blogoversary!!! Time to celebrate!!! ;)

Half an hour ago in a car: "When's my blog's birthday? I know it's in February, but I can't remember which day ..." Came home, check out my blog, went all back to 2011 and first blog post was written 3 years ago on 5th February (in Slovene).

2013 favourites

I've been avoiding to finish this post, because I knew it will take me quite some time to write, but it's January is flying by so quickly and it's about time I publish it ... let's start :)

Cosmetics:

I am not oily, but sometimes if I wear makeup all day, I get little bit shiny and it's nice to have a primer underneath to prevent that. MUA Matte perfect primer does its job and I really loke it. I'm a huge fan of Bourjois Healthy Mix collection and last year I started using Bourjois Healthy mix serum. It's light, gives me dewy finish and it stays on me quite long. I usually don't powder my whole face, but I set my foundation around the eyes, around my lips and I even use powder as natural eyeshadow to set eyeshadow primer. Catrice All matt plus Shine control powder does a great job with all that.

Skin care discovery for my face has to be Alverde Clear Waschcreme. It removed my makeup and cleans my face perfectly and it's super gentle. Another skin care product I loved in 2013 is Balea Aqua serum, I just ran out of it, that's why it's not in the picture :). For my hair I've been loving Balea Oil repair spulung (conditioner). Makes my hair super soft and shiny. Deodorant I really liked was Felce Azzura Deo spray. It's in spray form, it's great to refresh during the day and this green scent is the only one I like from their line.

I cannot live without eyeliner and mascara, in 2013 I really liked Essence Liquid ink liquid eyeliner in waterproof form. Just be careful not to apply too much otherwise it will start to peel off. Another liner I liked was Catrice Gel eyeliner Black Jack with Jack Black, even though it's not the blackest liner out there. Stays on its place whole day, it even lasted me pretty decent amount of time. Gel liner tent to dry pretty fast. Mascara of the year has to be Isa Dora Big Bold Super volumizing mascara, which I won in IsaDora giveaway on Twitter. The wand is big and can be messy on lower lashes, but if applied carefully it did its job. Nice volume, length and intensity. Last couple of month I've been using only Catrice eye brow pencil for my lashes. As you can see on the picture, I need a new one ;) I don't have a full name or name of the shade, but I think it's the darkest one. I can't apply eyeshadow if I haven't applied primer first and I really liked Avon eye primer. It's beyond amazing.

Most used lipsticks have to be Ingrid 242, MUA lipstick Shade 11 and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable balm stain Smitten.

Nails:

Best base coat is OPI Natural Nail Base coat. This is the best base coat I tried and I think it even dries my colour polish faster. Other favourite polishes have to be: Essie Aruba blue, Essie Sole Mate and Barry M Racing Green.

Books:
I read quite some amazing books in 2013,  But first book that comes to my mind is from Cristy Žmahar called Nebesa odgovarjajo (Heaven response; only available in Slovenian atm). Here's a little description: click.

Music:
I'll have to go with whole newest album from Panic! at the Disco - Too weird to live To rare to die. You're probably sick and tired of me mentioning them, but I really do love them and still haven't gone sick and tired of their songs ;). You can listen to whole album on YouTube here.
Second album I really dig has to be from Fall Out Boy - Save Rock and Roll. Listen to whole album here.

Source: screenshot from their videos.

YouTube:
I discovered so many amazing YouTubers last year and I already shared that in my Favourite Youtubers post in December (here). My all time favourites have to be Claire Marshall (queen of editing and I probably re watched all her videos quite some times :D) and MadeYewLook (young talented positive girl, she also has her own brush set line).

Source: Pinterest.
Movies:
For movies I'll have to go with the two I saw in November/December, because those are the only ones I remember :D The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, of course. Jennifer Lawrence brought Katniss on a whole another level, fell in love with her even more and movie is much more understandable and it sticks to a book. And I watched it twice. In the cinema, yes. :)
Second one I really like was The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, because I love hobbits, elves, dragons and fantasy movies. :) And now I just remembered I got inspired to do one more makeup for The Hobbit makeup series ;)

Are my favourites your favourites too? :) Tell me what was your favourite product, music, series, book ... in 2013.

90's TAG [video]

I know I promised I'll be filming (more) YouTube videos, but I kinda failed at it. I filmed a video how I fill in my eyebrows 4 (or even 5) times and it was out of focus or I was covering my whole face with a mirror, unintentionally.
Anyways, Maja (click) posted yesterday 90's tag and I was like: "do a tag, Deja, you can't really f*ck up this kind of video." So I sat down and filmed today. I didn't really f*cked it up, but it's not the best, plus my camera is really loud and I don't see myself buying new camera anytime soon just because I don't think I'll be filming so regularly that I would need to upgrade.

Enough of chit chat, here's the video and please read description box! And subscribe if you'd like to ;)

I tag all 90's kids ;)

Goodbye 2013, welcome 2014!

I won't name this post "cheesy" New Year message, I'll try not to be chessy at all :)

Let's just say that the year of 2013 was extremely interesting. It had a lot of ups and downs, sadness and joy, fear and even more action, but most of it all, I've learnt so many things about myself and I've never been truer to my self than this year. Even though my plans for the end of the year were completely different and I failed at some "New Year resolutions", but I listen to my intuition and achieved more that I could ever imagined. I even shocked myself sometimes. It's been an incredible year, and I truely believe that next year will be even better.

Source: Pinterest.

And to all my loyal readers, followers, friends ... I wish you all the best, set really high goals, so when you reach them, you'll surprise yourself. Don't just wish for good 2014, make it a good one :)

Bring it on 2014, I'm ready for you :)

(Was I chessy? :D)

Christmas tag

Since I haven't really done anything Christmas-y on my blog yet, except for Gift ideas post (here), I decided to do Christmas tag. Answers are not particularly interesting, because I'm not crazy about Christmas, but it was last minute idea for today's post ;). I hope you still find it somewhat interesting.

Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
I believe we never had a real tree, it was always synthetic. And I will never forgot when me and my sister were younger and were decorating a really tall synthetic tree with our grandpa. We used ornaments in every colour. Around the tree we put grandpa's electric toy train, which was really old. Best memories :)

You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick up?
As usual - tea, preferably green tea. I basically drink just tea, lemonade, 100% juices and water. Not a lot to chose from :)

What's your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
This year I did combination of blue and silver baubles and guirlandes (picture above). We change colour combination every year: red and gold or purple and silver are other two options.

Giving or receiving?
Giving. But I prefer giving gifts over whole year, when I feel like it, because I like to surprise people ;), holidays always seem to force me into giving. But we don't give big gifts, something small and if you need something. Even if just someone says to me that he loves me, that's the best gift. We forget value of someone's company - that's a gift too.

To Mince Pie or not to Mince Pie?
I'll have to go with not to Mince Pie, never had one and pies are not really something we ever made and ate. Besides that, I don't eat this kind of things.

What's your traditional Christmas lunch?
We don' have traditional Christmas lunch, if we do, we have dinner, but it doesn't happen every year, because my mum is a nurse and if she works over night, then it's just two of us at home, in that case we don't dine together. Otherwise I always make my own meal, because I don't eat half of the food on the table :) And last year I had some vegan desserts for dinner. Like a boss :)

Christmas Day Fashion
Leggings, long socks over them (embracing my inner 80's freak), hoodie. Most likely.

What's your favourite Christmas song?
You'll hate me for this, but I don't like Christmas songs. AT ALL. But I decided to pick one song this year with "Christmas-y vibe" and make it "my Christmas song". Panic! at the Disco: Collar full.

What is your favourite Christmas film?
Nightmare before Christmas, if that counts as a Christmas movie ;) Or Grinch, but I haven't watched it in forever.

Open presents before or after lunch?
Like I said, we don' have Christmas lunch, we have dinner before an actual Christmas and we usually open presents in the morning.

Even though I'm not a Christmas person, I kinda liked this tag ;)

I tag:
Jana - Small Bits of Loveliness
Taya - My Little beauty world
Sandra - The Puzzle of Sandra's life
Danielle - Kalamity Jane Kosmetics
Mimi - Mimi's Vanity Box

Tell me, what's your favourite thing about Christmas?

November favourites

Man, I have no luck with filming favourites videos. Let's stick with blog posts then :) It's almost middle of December (where are you rushing dear December?), it's about time to talk about November favourites.

I haven't really buy any new products, I just bought what I needed and that was a new eye primer and liquid eyeliner. I bought Avon eye primer and I must say that I am sooo happy with it. I didn't really have high expectations for this product, but my eyeshadow stays on place whole day! WHOLE DAY (important imformation, write it down ;)).

For liquid eyeliner I bought Essence liquid ink eyeliner in waterproof form. And I'm super pleased with it. Even though I had some difficulties at the beginning, since I'm used to those spong-y tips and not brushes, like this one has, but I had no problems getting used to it. I like my winged eyeliner on thicker side and this one does the job. You just have to be careful not to apply it too much on one place otherwise when it drys it will flake off. I had to learn that the hard way :) Other than that, I'm super happy with it!

^.^
Another and the last makeup product I have to mention is Bourjois Healthy mix serum, even though I've been using it for few months now, I forgot to include it into my last favourites post, but better late than never, right? :) I like the texture of it and I love that it gives me nice healthy glow. I'm using the lightest shade 51 Light Vanilla.

I needed a new shaving gel and I bought this Balea Wake up Call Rasier gel for men. Yes, men, because I can be a little manly sometimes ;). It leaves my skin super soft and shaving is made easy as 1,2,3. I just love it. And I think it's cheaper than ladies shaving gel, which is always a plus :) Oh, and I'm shaving my legs with this, what did you think I was shaving, a moustache? :)

Even though I like being in silence, I currently cannot stop listening to Panic! at the Disco's new album Too weird to live, too rare to die. I even listed all the songs on my YouTube channel under Favourite songs (here). The only downside of this album is that it's about 32 minutes long. So, I have it on repeat all the time ... up to 10 times per day. And I'm not even joking!

Now, let's move to the movie part ... I watched few movies, but my favourite has to be, of course, The Catching Fire. OMG, it was so good, I had teary eyes, it was intense and insane! I want to watch it again :) For all of you who don't know that, this is the second movie in The Hunger Games series. If you haven't watched it yet, do it! :)

That's all for my favourites of the month. What are your favourites of the month of November?

Gift ideas

Christmas and New Year are coming and if you are clueless what to give to your loved ones, I have some ideas for you. No beauty products, no chocolate, no socks :) ... and they are all quite cheap and some of them are little bit more expensive, but they never run out.

1. Books.
In my opinion one of the best gifts anyone can receive. I personally love self growth books, books about spirituality, poetry, books about health, fitness ... If a person loves books, you can't really go wrong with that. You can get cheap books at http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/.* and they ship pretty fast as well. Many other online book stores have Christmas discounts right now.

2. Agenda book, calendar.
If you like being organized and not forget about appointments, events and holiday dates, agenda book or calendar can be a great idea. Book stores have many affordable and adorable agenda books, which will suit anyone's personality. Calendar's as well have many themes, you can also buy something funnier or "kinkier" to make another person smile ;).

3. Diary, sketch book.
If you like to write, you know you need many diaries or books to write in. I have a personal diary, a book where I write blog ideas, a workout diary, another book for nutrition and health notes, little book for affirmations, another little book for goals, another for to do lists ... You get the picture.
And sketch book would be appropriate for artists, you can get sketch books in any book stores or craft supply stores. I even sketch my makeup looks in my little sketch books, so please get me one ;)

4. Gift cards.
You can't really miss with buying a gift card. :)

5. Tea & mug.
Since I'm a huge tea drinker, I'd love to get me some more tea. I love herbal teas in any taste. I recommend getting Yogi tea, because each tea bag has a cute little message. Combine tea box with a cute mug, maybe even write something motivational to personalise it, which I think it's super adorable and the day after that cup of tea will be amazing :)

6. Fitness equipment & workout DVDs.
You don't really want to give someone a bar of chocolate, when you know that they're trying to lose weight or get in shape. Substitute that with fitness equipment - weights, kattlebell, skipping rope, exercise mat, pull up bar ... I could go on and on. If you don't know which equipment to get, you can also buy DVDs. I personally recommend Zuzka Light's DVDs, since I've been following her for years now and she never lets me down. Her DVDs are available here: CLICK. I have Zcut power Cardio series and I was super pleased with the result in just one month! (click)

7. DVDs.
If a person is a movie fanatic and you know what kind of movies person likes, get them a DVD. I know you can get for free movies online, but to me there's nothing better than a real DVD. I want whole cinema at home ;)
I usually buy my DVDs from 2-5€, except when it comes to Johnny Depp, in that case I always invest in double DVDs with extra footage ;).

8. DIY gift.
And the best gift has to be anything DIY. It can be just a letter, little handmade candle, nicely made holiday card, a painting you've done, a handmade toy ... A lot of crafts can be recycled, which will help you save money, too.
Go through Pinterest and get inspired! I'll be pinning more in few days, I need to get inspired, too ;) My Clever crafts boards atm: here.
Maybe I'll even do a DIY gift ideas post. What do you think? :)

Tell me, what do you want for Christmas this year? I want bunch of books, new diary and inner peace ;)

My favourite YouTube channels

Blogmas day 2 :).
Today I decided to share with you some of my favourite YouTubers. So, let's just start ;)

*I screen shot all the pictures from their videos. Click on their names which will lead you to their YouTube channel*

Cool chick, makeup artist, she does from beauty videos to fashion to recipes to vlogs to DIYs. I love the variety she provides. And I also love her editing. I usually don't enjoy vlogs so much, but hers are always fun to watch :). Must not forget to mention that she has a really adorable cat named Bruce Lee :)

When I found Lex' channel about a month ago, I watched all her videos in couple of days. She does Halloween looks all year round, mostly body painting. She is funny, positive, extremely creative (it blows my mind) and is just awesome person, I guess :)

In one word: shameless! She is promoting shamelessness, does beauty, any other advice, motivation, positive body image etc. I love her energy and shameless persona :)

Ah, funny Natalie. She was probably one of the first channels I subscribed to, way back in the day, when I didn't even know what being subscribed even meant :). She does short funny videos telling you some kind of story. I get really excited when she uploads a new video :)

Already mentioned him in my favourites post, but I'll mention him again. He's a Swedish gamer, who comments though playing video games, but trust me, it's much more interesting and funny than it sounds. He is one of the most subscribed YouTube channels atm and he still does everything by himself - content, film, edit ...

One of the best channels about fitness and health on YouTube. Brenda provides informative videos, gives "lean secrets", motivates you, shows you amazing recipes, shows you the workout and she's also very beautiful. :) She has also written an e-book named Lean Secrets which I just purchased and can't wait to read it :)

Another YouTuber who does Halloween all year round. He is amazing in creating creatures from horror movies, does really in dept explanation how to do it and watching him just makes me happy and motivates me to be more creative :)

Amazing artist. Whatever she does look so effortless and beautiful. She shows you that you don't need a lot of makeup to achieve a certain effect. Her voice is really calming and relaxing, too.

Reidell bros make kinda awesome awkward funny videos, which make no sense sometimes but are so meaningful at the same time. Does this make sense? :) They won Internet icon award and I think you'll love them!

There are plenty more I watch and enjoy, but some of my favourite Youtuber stopped making videos, or they upload really rarely (Petrilude, Audfaced, JazzyBabyCakes, Nymphette415, PiecesofRisa, dougboy411 ...), so I didn't include them in this post. But you can still check them out ;)

Do you watch any of my favourites? Tell me, which YouTubers are your favourite?

1 year after Lasik eye surgery

Guess what day it is?! It's exactly one year asince my Lasik eye surgery! :) I already shared a lot of information about it and my experience, so today I want to share how getting rid of glasses and contact lenses benefited me. :)

Read about my experience: HERE.
Read about my recommendations: HERE.

Before surgery I was reading how most people were happy about how "free" they feel after surgery. And I have to agree with that. I don't have to think "Where are my glasses?", I don't have to calculate if I can put my lenses out before I go out again (they have to be in solution for couple of hours before you use them again), I don't have to bring solution, case for lenses or glasses with me whenever I slept over etc. If you are glasses or lens wearer and if you combine both, you know it can bothers you. Not wearing glasses and lenses allows you to be more spontaneous and stops you from over thinking. Example: when I was still wearing glasses and lenses I usally always had to think before sleeping over at someone else's place or going out after whole day of wearing lenses already.

I never talked about this issue out loud, but sometimes when I was wearing lenses, my vision went completely blurry and I had to put some fake eye drops in my eyes, even though it didn't really help a lot. I assumed that blurriness was caused by combination of makeup or unclean brushes and sun. But I got that even with clean brushes and minimal makeup or no makeup. On top of that, my right eye was watering a lot and it constantly ruining my makeup. It looked like I don't know how to apply makeup ^.^

I haven't had any issues with blurry vision or excessive watering after surgery, so I guess the problem was in contact lenses. The only problem I had after surgery were dry eyes, but I already told you that I started drinking more water for hydration. I think that problem was solved pretty quickly. And I had broken capillaries in my left eye for more than a month after surgery. But that's just me, someone else maybe won't even get broken capillaries or will heal faster.

Almost forgot to mention: you don't have to be careful about breaking your glasses anymore! This used to be one of my biggest fears, even though my glasses were plastic. They still could have got smashed in one second of not paying attention, especially if you put them on bed, couch, chair, at the end of the table ... And no more calculating when do I have to buy new lenses or new solution.

Are you thinking about getting an eye surgery? Why? Have you already got it done? Share your thoughts and experience with me :)
