Products that suck #3

Haven't written a post about regret purchases in a while. Let's just say that when I find something that works, I'll probably stick to it for a whilem that's why I don't have a lot regretable purchases. But then I went through my stash and found some things that didn't work for me and forgot about them, so here they are.

Bare in mind that whatever doesn't work for me, it may work for you, it's the same other way around.

I have dry, sensitive skin and I break out quite easily. In hope to help me with my breakouts I bought Afrodita Young & Pure Deep Cleansing gel + peeling + mask for normal to oily skin. I used it on the certain areas where I tent to break out more, but it broke me out even more and it really dried out my skin. But I would recommend it for oily and acne prone skin, it might work for you. If you have dry skin, stay away from it! :)

I am searching for a new moisturizer, because still haven't found one I would be 100% satisfied with and going through every moisturizer in a drug store I ended up purchasing Olay Anti-wrinkle Nature fusion night cream. Just because it was on sale and just because most people compliment Olay products. That desperate purchase didn't end up well. Once I apply the cream I have a feeling that it just sits on my skin and it doesn't do anything. I even noticed more cloged pores and more black heads.

Another dissapointment has to be Alverde hair mask (glanz-haarkur Zitronenblüte Aprikose). It just didn't do anything to my hair and that's all I have to say about it. At least I can use it as a shaving cream.

I even have few polishes that I don't like, but I still use them, because I secretly cheer for them to get better :D

First one is Kleancolor Nail laquer 236 Chunky holo black. I ordered it few years ago on eBay, because it looked beautiful on pictures, but when I got it I couldn't open it, after awhile I finally did it and the product itself is really thick, has gel-like consistency, once applied takes forever to dry and it chips really fast.

Second one I didn't like is Ruby kisses HDP18 Whiter than White. Brush is terrible (bristles are some sort of a plastic, really uneven), extremely clumsy, the polish smells 10 times worse than any polish I've tried and it just doesn't want to dry once applied.
Are all Ruby kisses polishes like that?

Last one that doesn't work for me is Catrice Quick Dry & High shine Top coat. I know it gives shine, but quick dry? Nah. Now I don't even use any top coat to finish my manicure, just because nothing worked for me and the more coats I apply, the faster polish chips.

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts on them?

Current skincare

I have quite dry skin, even though my T-zone can get a little bit more greasy during the summer. My skin is also sensitive, it can get irritated quite easily, I can break out if not using right products or using dirty brushes ... It's a challenging combo, but my current skin care routine is really good for my skin, that's why I decided to share it with you.

Bare in mind, that skin care is personal, what works for me it may not work for you, same goes the other way around. For me 'less is more' works best and I'm also not using any fancy expensive products, because most of them didn't work for me.

Before bed time I always make sure I clean my makeup. For that I've been currently using Alverde clear Waschcreme. I wet my face, I put little bit of product on my hands and gently massage it into my skin, it's gentle enough to use it around the eyes as well. After I wash the product off my face, I repeat the first step to really clean my makeup-less face, so product can do its magic. If I don't wear makeup that day, I usually skip this step and go directly to step 2.

After that I pat my face with a little face towel (I have a separate towel for my face and change it every few days, so I am not putting bacteria on my face). I continue my skin care with my good trusty Kahne Witch hazel toner. It's so gentle, that I can use it even around my eyes and it gets rid of any last traces of makeup. I reviewed this product: here.

Then I apply Balea Aqua serum. This product provides extra moisture to my face, gives me nice glow and smooth skin. I let it dry for few minutes, then I apply Alverde Wildrose Nachtcreme for dry skin. I always wake up with moisturized and glowy skin, but I'll probably switch to a Argan oil for winter time, just to provide extra moisture.

Around my eyes I apply Derma E Peptides Plus Wrinkle Reverse Eye Creme. This one is probably the most expensive skin care product, but I got it on sale, because Derma E repacked their products. It provides good moisture, I've noticed that my under eye skin is less dry. But you have to be consistent with application and I usually forget to apply it. Bad Deja :)

This is my main night skin care routine, but sometimes I use exfoliant or face scrub to get rid of dead skin cells. For that I love to use Derma E Fruit Enzyme Facial Scrub with Dead Sea Salt. Even though it's a daily cleanser, I cannot use it daily, my skin is too sensitive and I will break out if I exfoliate every day, so I use it once or twice a week, depends on a season and how my skin feels.

When my skin is having a bad day (or week or two) I like to calm it down with good ol' oatmeal. Yes, you've read that right. No other product works that well for my skin as oatmeal does, I even have a little container of oatmeal in my bathroom :). I put little bit of oatmeal in my hand, wet it and massage it in my skin for good minute or so and rinse it. Sometimes I even let it sit on my face for some time. It works as an exfoliant, but it also provides moisture to my skin.

If I get a naughty pimple, I will cure it before bed time with Nixoderm. I bought it on eBay and it was really cheap. It says it cures eczema, pimples, blemishes, rash, athlete's foot, ringworm, scaling skin ... The only complain I have about this product is that it has a really strong not so pleasant smell and it tingles. Once I applied it all over my face ... I will never repeat the same mistake again :)

Every two days or so I exfoliate my lips with Everyday naturals Sumptuous lip polish or I make my own exfoliant with olive oil and sugar. I think that this step is more important for dry lips than using a lip balm.

In the morning I usually just wash my face with water, pat it dry, put some Witch hazel toner on a cotton pad, clean my face, apply Balea Aqua serum and Alverde Sensitiv Tagescreme, which also contains Witch hazel and chamomile. I'm still testing out this moisturizer, but currently I can say that it works ok. I repeat those steps before I apply my makeup during the day, if I don't apply it in the morning, which I usually don't.

As it goes for face masks ... I always forget about them and don't take time to apply them. But when I do, I usually buy those little masks for one use. Usually from Balea or Jeunesse. But my favourite masks have to be homemade masks. If you want any recipes, I can share them with you, let me know :)

Like I said: simple and inexpensive.
I hope this post helps to some of you and if you have any questions, please ask in the comment section. What product do you use?

July favourites

It's time to talk about products and finds that I enjoyed in the month of July. :)

Let's start with skin care. I was introduced to Alverde Wachcreme by my friend and I decided to buy it myself. I really do love this product, because it removes my makeup, clears my skin of dirt and makes it really soft. I won't buy Bioderma ever again :).

For my body I've been loving Alverde body lotion in almond scent. Nourishes my skin, leaves it soft, smells really nice and it doesn't clog my pores (yes, you can have clogged pores even on your body).

Another product I've been loving is Balea Aqua serum which I use underneath my moisturizer. It really provides extra moisture to my skin, is gentle and cheap, which is always a plus :).

I've been using Derma E eye cream for some months now and I always forget to mention it somehow. It's really moisturizing, doesn't irritate my eyes, is natural product and lasts forever. It also works great underneath makeup.

Tea flavor I've been really enjoying is from Yogi tea Forever young. I especially love that every tea bag has an inspirational message, which I really enjoy. I really do love little things like that :) Also whole box is very informative, you even have a yoga pose explained. Of course, flavor is amazing ;), cinnamon and little bit spicy.

I've read so many books lately that I would need a separate post just on books :). But I would recommend anything from Doreen Virtue, she's a "spiritual doctor of psychology". Her books will uplift your spirit.

Weekly makeup tag: natural

Yay, weekly makeup tags are back! I passed that bloody exam and I couldn't be happier :))

This week's theme was natural. So I went with the brownish shades, I just knew I wanted to use my new favourite all over eyes eyeshadow from Artdeco in number 218 (applied all over lids), it's shimmery but once you blend it in your crease it looks like you put another colour in there and also a lot of effort (but you didn't :P). And I couldn't finish the look with just one colour, had to add my all time favourite Sleek palette Au Naturel. I mean, it says "naturel", can't go wrong with that :)

Here is the finished look:

Face:
- Bourjois Healthy mix foundation & concealer
- E.l.f. High definition powder
- MUA blusher shade 2

Eyes:
- Too faced shadow insurance
- Artdeco single eyeshadow no 218
- Sleek Au naturel (taupe, regal and noir; I also used capuccino and bark on brows)
- Essence liquid eyeliner
- Sleek Lashes to kill mascara

Lips:
- Alverde 55 Rosy caramel

I actually got a little bit rusty since I didn't really do any makeup looks in January. But this will be fixed soon :).
I hope you like it anyways :).

October favourites

It's the end of the month already and it's time to say something about products, things, items etc. I've been loving this month.

Let's start with the lip balm. I needed new lip balm and I randomly bought new one from Alverde - Vanilleblute Mandarine. It leaves my lips nicely moisturised and it also smells so lovely!

I needed a new black nail polish and I decided to buy the one from Essence. I love black nail varnish so much and this one is a really good one.

My new base coat is Essence studio nails 24/7 nail base, it drys matte and fills the ridges, I would wear it even without colour polish, because it leaves my nails natural and healthy looking.

I got this MUA Immaculate collection palette for free with my first order and I really like it. It has many colours to work with, you can create neutral, dramatic, smokey eyes .. whatever you want with just one palette.

I've been using Green people moisturizer for years now, but I came across with the Simple hydrating light moisturiser and now I feel like I'm cheating on my GP one, because I think Simple works better for me. :O I'm actually thinking about buying more products for them.

I freakin' love my wedge sneakers. I love that they are super comfy and they still give me height because I'm such a petite girl :). Been wearing them a lot. Bought these babies at ASOS.

I've watched Six feet under way back, but somehow I stopped watching it. Now, I love it!

What are your monthly favourites? Have you tried any of these product? What TV shows are you loving now?

Have a lovely weekend,
