The penguin challenge look 1: drag queen

I love drag queens. Their makeup application is perfection, glitter everywhere, dramatic lips, dramatic contouring, a lot of highlighter, the more sets of false eyelashes the better ... I was even a drag queen for a masquerade this year. That was the first time I tried drag makeup. I haven't even practiced or anything, but then I realized it was not even that hard to do. That's why I decided to do it for my first look for the penguin (black and white) challenge. Here are the awesome ladies who came up with this challenge: Kaki, Alexis and Mimi.

Oh, yeah.. And according to google, my drag queen name is Iva Fetish ;).

Here is the look I came up with:

Products used:

face:
- Sephora Base lissante Smoothing primer
- Bourjois foundation healthy mix 52 Vanille
- E.l.f. High definition powder
- E.l.f.Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
- E.l.f. Blush Gotta glow

lips:
- Bourjois eyeliner pencil 01 Noir expert
- Revlon lipbutter 060 Gumdrop
(I didn't really want to do black and white lips, that's why I chose really light purple colour, which still kinda resembles white)

eyes:
- Urban Decay Primer potion Eyeshadow base
- Bourjois eyeliner pencil 02 Noir expert
- NYX Jumbo pencil 604 Milk
- Bourjois Liner feutre 11 Noir
- black  and white matte eyeshadow from Sleek i-divine pallette Chaos 577
- shimmery eyeshadow from BeautyUK eyeshadow collection pallette Twilight
- Barry M glitter stacking set mixed with Kiko mixing solution Solution mixante
- Baci lingerie false eyelashes no. 670 glued with Duo eyelash adhesive dark-tone
- Artdeco all in one mascara black

eyebrows:
- Catrice Absolute Eye colour 350 Starligh Expresso

I started with the eyes, I assumed that I will have a lot of fallout from glitter and black, at the end wasn't that bad :D. Firstly, right after the primer I roughly draw with Bourjois' black liner pencil where I want my lines to go. Then I started building up the black eyeshadow and applied NYX's jumbo pencil on my lids, set it with matte eyeshadow, followed by shimmery white, also on my brow bone. Then I applied white-ish glitter with mixing solution on my lids. Lined my upper eyelash line with Bourjois' Liner feutre, also the lower lash line. Added black shadow on lower lash line, and jumbo pencil to waterline and outer part in between the upper and lower black line. Added falsies and mascara.

Then I applied foundation, concealer, set everything with powder, contoured, applied blush and highlighter.
Then I lined my lips and a little bit in the corners with black eyeliner, in the center I applied Revlon Lipbutter.
The last thing were my eyebrows, and I always stick to my basics. Catrice Starligh Expresso never disappoints me :).

I still think this is more of a toned down drag makeup ... I didn't cover my eyebrows and draw them on, I just filled them and made them longer. I was thinking about applying two sets of lashes, but I intended to clean the makeup afterwards, and I'm lazy when it comes to cleaning my false lashes (and brushes, too). :P

Tell me, if you like iiiiit :). Would you wear it? :D

Have a lovely day <3

P.S. Special thanks to my roommate/dear friend/partner in crime who took the pictures. You rock ;)

And here are the lovely ladies who already did the first look. I'm one day behind. Whoopsie ;)

Monthly faves: JULY!

End of the month can mean only one: it's time for monthly favourites! I usually always get a positive feedback on those short "reviews" of my favourite things, that's why I decided to start writing separate review posts, because some products are my all time favourites and will never make it into my monthly faves, because I use them all the time. Tell me your thoughts on that. :)

First product, I've been using a lot is Essence Marble mania blush in 01 swirlpool. It's a nice rosy shimmery blush, which gives my cheeks really pretty glow and I don't even have to use a highlighter with it, because it's already shimmery. :)

My favourite of the favourites has to be Seche Vite Dry fast top coat. It dries your polish in a minute, after ten minutes I can make myself a lunch :D. It makes my nail colouring so much easier, because I always manage to ruin my manicure somehow. I bought this magic bottle on E-bay, I think it was around 7 €.

Second nail polish I've been loving this month (I actually had it for a year now, but used it only once, because it dries so slowly, but thank you Dry fast top coat, you make my life so much easier :D) is Essence multi dimension XXXL shine in 68 Perfectly true. It's white with no glitter, shimmer, just plain white varnish :).

Another polish I've been loving lately is Essence colour & go in 38 Choose me! Year ago I wasn't really into shimmery polishes, but now I just love them. This one looks so cute on my toe nails!

I've been listening a lot of non-mainstream and non-commercial music, because working in a shop with clothes you hear that sh*t every day and some songs just make you nervous an you start hating them! :) On repeat this month: The Cunninglynguists - Darkness.

I am doing much more yoga and I started liking it. I still like my HIIT workouts though, but some days I feel like doing something much less impulsive or I combine both - high intensity interval training and yoga. I'm still a beginner at it :).

My favourite food of the month has to be salad. It's been so hot through all month that I'm not really in the mood to cook anything. I mix all kind of veggies, sometimes even fruit, mozzarella cheese, tuna, beans and other yummy healthy stuff :).

I know I'm kinda late, but finally I found time to watch all new episodes of True Blood season 5. Super excited for a new episode :). Do you watch True Blood? Which TV series do you like most?

That all for today's post. What are your faves of the month?

What I ate Friday + workout OTD

I realized I haven't posted any "what I ate" posts in a long long time. I decided to do that today :). This post is kinda related to getting in the best shape for my birthday, so you get an idea what I eat on an ordinary day.

Breakfast: half of Greek yogurt, handful of mixed nuts, one nectarine, one spoon of honey and of course a cup of green tea. Yum! (and of course I accidentally deleted picture of my breakfast. I wouldn't be Deja if I haven't done something wrong or forgotten something. Silly me :))

WOTD (workout of the day that is :)):
I kept it kinda old school and simple.
First part had three main exercises: jump lunges or switch lunges (however you'd like to call them), tricep dips and squat jumps (regular squat with a jump when you come back up). I did 16 repetitions for each exercise and in between I did 4 burpees (squat down, hand on the floor in front of you, jump your feet back, do a push up, jump your feet forward and jump up). I completed whole sequence three times in 9 minutes and 44 seconds.
Second part was 10 minutes of random ab, butt and leg exercises.
Third part was wall sit for 3 minutes and held plank for 45 seconds (and my record is 3 minutes. lol)

Post-workout shake: chocolate protein shake with half of banana.

Lunch: green salad, rucola, 6 olives, half of avocado, half of tomato, mozzarella cheese, salt, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mixed spices.

Afternoon snack: two corn waffles with little bit of Greek yogurt, honey, half of banana that was left from morning and shake of cinnamon. I would use peanut butter and honey, but I ran out of peanut butter, and my next "project" is to make homemade peanut butter :)

Dinner: omelette (one whole egg, two egg whites) with mixed veggies (zucchini, onion, carrot, rucola, green pepper and tomato) + evening tea :)

I usually have 4-6 meals per day, it really depends on when I wake up and what I do during the day.

Do you like this kind of posts?

One day cleanse/detox day

I said in one of my previous posts that I'm getting in the best shape of my life as my birthday present to myself. I am exercising every day, eating healthy, drinking lots of water ... Wanted to update you about my progress, but I'm a lazy blogger lately. Ugh. You have all right to hate me for not updating you. :) Bad, Deja, bad! I failed.
I will have more time (and hopefully I will be in the mood) for blogging in August. Pinky swear :).

So back to my detox day ... My body felt like I need some cleansing to do. So I decided to eat nothing whole day and drink only water.
When I was dieting (90-days separation diet) I had so-called "water day" every 29th day. That means you drink only water (and teas and maybe lemonade ...) whole day. It's recommended to do that every once in a while to give your body a rest.

I came across with a recipe for a beverage which is good to drink on a cleanse day. You will need only three ingredients + water :).

You will need:
- one lemon (I used organic lemon)
- cayenne pepper
- maple syrup
- water (1,5 l)

Squeeze one lemon and pour it into an empty bottle. Add three spoons of maple syrup and two to three shakes of cayenne pepper. Mix all ingredients with 1,5 liters of water. Store the beverage in your fridge and drink during the day. Make sure you drink plenty of pure water as well.

What are the benefits of a detox day?
Detox is meant to help get rid of built-up toxins and wastes in your body. You give your liver and stomach a break, especially if you eat poor diet (low in nutrition). Your digestive organs have to work harder to filter wastes and toxins from the body if you eat poorly.
A water day can also help you rehydrate your skin, clears your skin and increases your energy level.
Detox day is also good for you to take a rest, take a day off ... I recommend going for a long walk, do yoga, meditate, read an inspirational/motivational book ... whatever makes you calm and happy :).

And this is how it a detox day looks like (+green tea, I drank 2 cups). Make sure you have a toilet always near you :P

If you are feeling crazy and really need some serious cleansing to do, you can actually do this detox for three days (or maybe even more, make some research before doing your body any harm).
It seems impossible to drink only water (and this beverage and maybe tea) whole day, but your body will thank you!

Namaste (I'm really into yoga lately :D),

xoxo Deja
